Common Philips Television Repairs

One very common problem encountered on many Philips television models, old and new, such as with the 42PF9431D/37, 32RF82S327, and 42PF9964 models, is when the viewer turns on the display and the standby LED light suddenly appears green for a few seconds and then immediately switches to a continuously flashing red light with no picture appearing on the screen. The blinking light is called a power-on self-test (POST) diagnostic code. Some have found that if you unplug the set for a few seconds and plug it back in, the television will return to normal. However, for a long term and more effective solution, contacting your local repairman is highly recommended. In some cases, the SSB board had to be replaced as the resistor on the PCB on the back of the CRT had to be fixed. In other cases the Y Sustain board had to be replaced. If the problem is not due to these two issues, then the capacitors will need to be replaced as they only have a fixed guaranteed life. Thus, it would be wise to take out an extended warranty on Philips due to this common repair issue which often occurs after the limited warranty has ended.

Once your TV has been repaired, refurbished or exchanged, your TV is covered by a subsequent 90 day warranty.
